Competitive Team (Ages 8+)

Swimmers joining CREST’s Competitive Team learn what it takes to compete at the Local, Provincial, National and International level. Working closely together, CREST’s Head Coach Wilfred Arzaga, Head Development Coach Che Mineque, and Assistant Coach AJ Isleta, focus on helping each swimmer develop to their greatest potential. They have coached CREST’s most elite swimmers to Canadian and Provincial age group records and have prepared swimmers for Canadian Olympic Trials and junior international meets.

CREST’s core philosophy is one of accessibility, from both a financial and skills perspective. As such, provided capacity allows, all swimmers with a strong mental focus who, together with their family, are prepared to commit to the rigors of a highly competitive team, are welcome to participate. For the competitive program, a swimmer and family's commitment is of equal importance to their speed and endurance. To further discuss the best program fit, please contact the Registrar at [email protected].

Competitive swimmers attend 3 to 9 two-hour swim practices per week depending on their age and ability (plus 2 one-hour dry land training sessions for swimmers aged 13+). In order to accommodate the scheduling demands of student-athletes, CREST’s program is extremely flexible, but all CREST swimmers are expected to attend the recommended number of practices per week. For a more detailed review of our practice schedule and expectations, please review the Programs/Practice Schedule page.
