The smell of chlorine is in the air, the sound of splashing is getting closer, and we can almost feel the excitement building! Crest Swimming is thrilled to officially welcome all our incredible swimmers and their families back for what promises to be another exhilarating competitive swim season, kicking off on September 22, 2025!

We hope you all had a fantastic summer, filled with fun, relaxation, and perhaps a little bit of swimming! But before we dive headfirst into new goals and challenges, let us take a moment to celebrate the incredible achievements of our Crest family over the past few months. Our swimmers and our esteemed coach have truly made waves on the national and international stage!

Summer's Splashiest Highlights:

This summer, Crest swimmers showcased their dedication and talent at some of the most prestigious aquatic events, bringing home unforgettable experiences and fantastic results:

  • Canada Games Stars: A massive round of applause for Ella Harrison and Aidan Lee for their outstanding performances at the Canada Games! Aidan had an incredible meet, dropping PBs in both the 200 and 400m individual medley events for silver and bronze medals, respectively. Ella also had an extraordinary meet, bringing home a silver medal in the 200m butterfly and a bronze medal in the 100m butterfly. She also reached the A-final in the 200m freestyle, placing 4th overall.
  • World Aquatics Junior Champions: Our very own Jaques Harrison and Ben Cescon represented Crest Swimming with distinction at the World Junior Aquatics Championships. Jaques had a phenomenal performance in the 400m individual medley, achieving a new personal best time of 4:22.92. Competing against the best young talent globally, they proved that the future of swimming is incredibly bright! Ben had his fastest ever preliminary swim, clocking in at a blistering 2:17.04 in the 200m breaststroke, against a cohort of the fastest swimmers in the world.
  • FISU World University Games Success: Congratulations to alum Ben Loewen for his impressive showing at the FISU World University Games! Ben was just 26 milliseconds shy of the podium, finishing an incredible fourth place in the men's 200m butterfly (and 19 milliseconds from the World Aquatics World Championship qualifying time). He also finished 6th in the men's 200m backstroke, showcasing his versatility and strength on the senior international stage.

A Hall of Fame Honour for Our Own!

And the accolades do not stop with our swimmers! We are absolutely thrilled to announce a monumental achievement for our beloved coach, Fred Arzaga. Fred has been named to the Ontario Aquatic Hall of Fame and will be formally inducted as a Builder on September 20, 2025! This tremendous honour is a testament to his unwavering dedication, visionary leadership, and countless contributions to the sport of swimming in Ontario and beyond. Fred has not only shaped incredible athletes but has also fostered a supportive and inspiring community at Crest Swimming. We cannot wait to celebrate this well-deserved recognition with him!
