Racing at Etobicoke and Markham Pan Am Centre, CREST swimmers had a fantastic showing at our early June meets. Lots of best times, new qualifications, and fun had by all. Special congratulations to Ella, who took home the Girls 12U High Point Award with 5 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze medal!

CREST won the Small Team Award at the 2020 Winter Ontario Festival Championship held at Windsor International Aquatic Centre from February 22-23. Teams with fewer than 50 swimmers are eligible for the award and points are scored for swimmers who place in the top 8 spots. Winter Festivals are for 13&U and CREST had four swimmers attend: Isabelle Cos (13), Aiden Lee (10), Jack Loewen (13) and Adelaide Young (13). It was a back-to-back winning weekend for CREST as the team won Small Team Awards at both the 2020 Winter Ontario Swimming Championships (OSCs) at Markham’s Pan Am Pool (March 5-8) and the Ontario Youth Junior Championships (OYJs) also held at Markham’s Pan Am Pool (March 5-8). Congratulations to Kevin and Ben, our CREST swimmers, for being selected for the International Exchange Tour to Sagamahara, Japan representing Swim Ontario in this cultural and racing exchange in December 2019.. Nine swimmers were selected for this tour.

In July, CREST swimmers Jake Prokosch, Ben Loewen, Frederic Yoon, Lucas Park, Cezar Hirescu and Kevin Park competed at the Canadian Junior Nationals championship in Calgary. They won five medals and finished eighth overall for boys’ teams at the meet. Loewen, competing in the 14-15-year-old division, overcame illness to win gold in the 100-metre butterfly with a personal best time of 57.12; a silver in the 200m backstroke and 400m individual medley; and a bronze in the 200m fly. CREST took home another Swim Ontario Small Team Award at the Summer Ontario Swimming Championships held June 27-30 at the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre in Toronto, Ontario. The award recognizes a small team of 50 or fewer athletes which earn the most points – in individual or relay events – by placing in the top eight.
